   Very good experience. Food was good and we had a work group, waitress did a wonderful job of keeping drinks filled and taking orders without being obtrusive and letting us have our space to discuss everything we needed to. Definitely a great place for a work dinner. Definitely recommend

   As always, great food, atmosphere, and service! We love Alan’s positivity and friendliness - along with being an amazing chef! Our birthday celebration and dessert were amazing!

   Very poor lamb chops and Luke warm potatoes very disappointing I think the other meals were ok. Waitress was removing our plates and bringing checks before we were done eating , second glass of wine came after meal done

   While passing through the Dakota's DW and I came across the 42 - Steak and Seafood Restaurant. We arrived at 5 PM to a very quiet but inviting building. Welcomed and seated very quickly by friendly staff. Being early, we had a room to ourselves. Our server called it the "cattleman's room". There were many pictures of cattle and the men that work hard managing them. Drinks ordered, aps and mains also ordered. To start with, their Lobster Bisque was simply the best we've had in a very long time. DW had the salmon. I had the Prime New York Strip. Her salmon was cooked perfectly, as was my steak. I had requested "on the rare side of medium rare" and it was spot on. A real pleasure for sure. Coffee and dessert ended a wonderful experience and meal. If we should ever pass this way again, we would definitely return. Highly recommended!

   I booked with the comments “please help me celebrate my Dad who is 98 years old today!” My past experience at other higher end steakhouses set me up for disappointment. Although the staff wished my dad a happy birthday, I would’ve thought a token sliver of cake to share among the 4 of us was warranted. In hindsight I should’ve made my expectations known. I assumed and you know what that means! To be fair, the portions of pasta were generous. I had shrimp cocktail - generous amount for an appetizer - but overcooked unfortunately. The crab cakes were tasteless but my aunt ordered the fish and she loved that. The service was very good, attentive.

   Kayla, our bartender/server was great and the food was delicious. Four of us each had different entrees and we’re all very satisfied.

   Food was great but our server was MISERABLE. Zero recommendations. Couldn't have had less energy. Zero personality skills or care that we were even there. It seemed to be more of an inconvenience. Would bring food that two people agreed to split and she would drop it randomly and state "unsure how you guys want to do this" and walk away. Our bill was well over $400 and we were there to enjoy our time. Everyone else who worked there was courtesy, greeted us with a smile, and welcomed/thanked us for coming in. Do yourselves a favor and get rid of the wet blanket.

    Quite disappointing dinner. Had a reservation. Was seated in the bar, not the dining room. No wait staff assigned. Bar tender served us. When deciding on wine by the glass, I asked if my wife could get a sip of the sauvignon blanc to see if she wanted a glass. Was informed "we don't give away samples" in a brusque manner. When our wine arrived, it appeared to be 5 ounce pours. When ordering dinner, the steak I wanted was paired with mac and cheese. I asked if I could substitute a different side. Was again brusquely informed "we don't make substitutions." I ordered a different steak. We waited an extended time before our meals were delivered. They were barely lukewarm. I told the bartender the meals were not hot. In an argumentative tone, she asked, "What do you mean?" I told her I didn’t know how long they had sat in the kitchen but they were lukewarm and we preferred a hot meal. She asked what parts we wanted reheated. I told her all of the meal. Unhappily, she took the meals away and returned later with them reheated. The food was well-prepared and tasty. Altogether, an unpleasant dinner overly priced for what was delivered. We will not return.
