Osteria Applausi opened in Old Greenwich in 1994. Each customer is treated like family. Our food is authentic Italian food requiring only the finest and freshest ingredients, every cut of meat and fish is hand-selected and Maria makes handmade pasta daily. If you want to experience a true taste of Italy and be treated like one of the family, come to Osteria Applausi.
Beppe Cornacchia, co-owner and manager of Osteria Applausi, has been a vital part of the restaurant since 2002. Prior to managing Applausi, Beppe lived in Tuscany since 1985 and worked in many successful Italian restaurants. He brought his vision of La Cucina Italiana to Fairfield County. Beppe also orchestrated the beautiful renovation of Applausi in 2010 to making it more metropolitan and giving it a sleek New York City feel in Old Greenwich.

We took my mother in-law and family to celebrate her 87th birthday. The food is very delicious and my mother in-law truly enjoyed her meal. The prices of the entrees are expensive. It became extremely loud as the restaurant became busy. It took a very long time to receive our orders. Our waiter never came by to check if we needed anything. I had to flag the waiter twice to get drink refills. I ordered Grilled shrimp and white beans for an appetizer and the pappardelle with veal ragu as an entree. Both delicious but the chef left the bay leaf and thyme sprigs in the served dish. Any seasoned chef knows to remove these before serving. My mother in-law found a human hair in her dessert. She brought it to the waiter’s attention and they made her a new dessert. I have eaten here several times and never had any issues. We will come back as every restaurant can have an off night. Hopefully, my next experience will be a good one.

We love Applausi so much that we eat there once a week. Last night was no exception to the usual excellence. We both had the special squid in linguine with chopped calamari and cherry tomatoes in a light candy tangy sauce. The service is incomparable and the staff is always so nice and caring. We cannot be our experience at Appausi anywhere else.

Consistently spectacular menu with flawless execution of both old favorites and adventuresome new items in a cozy, comfortable setting, suitable for family dinners, meals with old friends and business entertaining. can't go wrong with any of the specials as well as the classics. The carbonara is to die for. Beppe, Abel and Luis know their regulars well, but never fail to make anew face feel like part of the family. Don't miss this one.
