   We were seated within 5 minutes after checking in. We were seated in the back of the restaurant where the 4 older grills are located. (just off of the main dining room). Chef Andy came and proceeded to clean the grill and the exhaust fan above was dripping oil residue on the grill and on him. Luckily Andy noticed the drips right away and went and got a towel to wipe off the vent. The table beside us also had a filthy exhaust vent. Not sure how nobody else noticed the oil dripping from the vents above prior to us sitting down. It looked as if the vents had not been cleaned in a while. A little concerning how dirty they were. The newer tables in the main dining room do not have the overhead vents, so not an issue for those diners. Time for BH to replace the older tables. Just saying.

   We had reservations for 645 and we did not get seated until 745. Once seated we did not eat until 830 and did not finish with dessert until 930pm. By the time we paid it was almost 10pm. Just not acceptable

   We arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation only go be told they were running behind. They had no ETA for when we would get to sit down. We ended up waiting for 40 minutes with a group of loud rude boys before getting to sit down. We then waited about 10 more minutes before getting to order anything. The first two courses were forgettable. When our chef finally got to the table we could not hear or understand him most of the time. He also don't speak much while he was cooking, and didn't do anything fun with the knives. The food was okay, but we were told the show would be worth the money and it was not. We could have gone to another place that was cheaper and enjoyed ourselves more for less.

   We were celebrating birthdays with our grandkids. They loved the experience and everyone made it special. Would go again in a heartbeat. Lots of menu choices so everyone could find something they liked.

   Well 30min after our reservation time we were seated. 75 min later we saw our chef. By then the 3 grade school kids were eating their crayons. He was cordial and engaging and the kiddos loved him. Their Hibachi chicken meals cost $27 which was a surprise and unfortunately did not like the zucchini, mushrooms(too spicy), and onions. What kid does at that age? Their chicken was grilled to extinction which was not liked. (Note to chefs, do not spice the children’s chicken for adult palates, and slice the onion to a medium dice - hard to secure with chopsticks). Benihana has moved from a tappan-yaki Japanese experience to all show, noise, and food. Hope Rocky Aoki is not rolling in his grave. Afterwards we all smelled of Benihana grill smoke and had to throw our clothes in the wash and take showers. 6 of us(3 kids, 3 adults) paid over $325 for that lesson in indulgence. Never again.

   Our reservation was at 6pm and we weren’t sat till 7:30. This is the second time this has happened.

   Wait is always bad, but we weren’t seated until almost 1/2 hr past our res. Servers are clearly either understaffed or extremely pressured to turn people, extremely harried. Chef was clearly newer, and that’s ok, but he did not dice the food enough, meat or veggies. Hard to do with a fork and chopsticks. He saw me struggling to cut my chicken and put it back on grill to cut more. He also forgot the mushrooms and I had to ask for them after I got my meat. So cold meat and hot mushrooms.

    Jose was great. He was very impressive. Even after my wine was spilled on me it was taken care of quickly and discretely.
