Blue Door Kitchen & Garden, home to celebrated Chef Art Smith, is a farm-to-table oasis in the heart of Chicago’s Gold Coast and deeply rooted in the philosophy of letting the seasons dictate the menu. From its inception, the Blue Door brand has become synonymous with sustainability and responsible sourcing. We pride ourselves in showcasing dishes made from fresh, local ingredients sourced from Midwest farms.

Experience a chef-driven menu featuring everything from pierogis and market fresh salads, to Chef Art Smith’s famous buttermilk fried chicken. Walk-ins are always encouraged. Be sure to join us during the warmer weather months when the beautiful outdoor patio is open. While visiting, be sure to enjoy one of Blue Door Kitchen’s garden-to-glass cocktails, local beers or perfectly paired wines from our extensive list.

I enjoy Blue Door, but I’ve only dined in the summer in their outdoor patio. This is the first time I dined inside for brunch. The food was very good as always, but the noise level was off the charts! The fact that my dining companion and I had to shout at each other to converse made for an exhausting experience. As we were leaving, I noticed the patio is now enclosed for the season. I didn’t realize that was an option when we reserved. Maybe the noise level is lower there.

Food was very tasty. Servers were lovely. Took a little while to get our food. Would definitely eat here again.

The kitchen was so behind on the orders, wish we were told this before seating , or even when placing our order, zero communication through waitress, not even an „in sorry” didn’t ask if we wanted another drink, sat down at 11 , we ordered an omelette and blt sandwich, it arrived at 1225

This is such a cozy, pretty dining room (upstairs and down). It’s a good menu, and our food was fine. However the kitchen was very slow and we started to get hangry and tired. Also our table wasn’t ready for our reservation, so all in all we just spent too much time there.

Tables felt tight to each other but not in a cozy way. Lighting was cool and not warm. Decor was nice. The food was not up to snuff and the roasted cauliflower steak we ordered was not cooked through.

We were sat outside, table of 5. We were freezing as we sat in a corner of the tent. For a thanksgiving dinner, I selected this place because of inside and the warmth becuase it looked like a home. I didn’t know there was an upstairs otherwise I would have pushed to be moved. Not the experience I wanted for my family.
