Critically acclaimed to be among Canada’s best restaurants, Canoe's unique location high atop the TD Bank Tower affords a breathtaking view of the city and Lake Ontario. The design, originally conceptualized by noted designers Yabu Pushelberg and most recently refreshed by Solid Design Creative, is clean and simple, yet absolutely stylish - a brilliant reflection of Canada's rich raw environment. That same brilliance is captured through the flavours and textures of Chef Ron McKinlay’s inspired regional Canadian cuisine.

From the OpenTable editors: Jaw-dropping city views from wrap-around, floor-to-ceiling windows are what first draw diners to Canoe, but exceptional dishes that celebrate Canada’s homegrown cuisine have kept them coming back for nearly 30 years. Stylish, Canadiana-inspired decor and a stellar tasting menu make this one of Toronto’s ultimate special-occasion spots.

I was delighted that Canoe honored my request for a window view on Valentine’s Day. This thoughtful touch truly elevated the experience and made our evening feel special. The food was great—kudos to the chefs and kitchen team for a wonderful meal. That said, the service was decent but not quite as polished as I expected. Additionally, the tables were very close together, which I assume was a temporary setup for the occasion. This made the seating a bit less comfortable than anticipated. Still, I look forward to returning to experience the full menu in a more typical setting. Overall, it was a memorable night and I’d certainly come bacK

Service was excellent no problems. High end restaurant with no table cloth and my table was all scratched resembling a picnic table. Food tasting menu did not meet my expectations when it came to taste. The restaurant is dark and the plated food is also dark and has no life. You eat with your eyes and the food here tells you please don’t eat me. Very disappointing I will not be back.

Disappointing Valentine's Experience Despite Good Food This restaurant’s creative dishes couldn’t save a second chance that went painfully wrong. While the Valentine’s tasting menu ($250/person) delivered intriguing flavors—like tarragon ice cream and a well-executed beef fillet—the meal leaned salty, and three desserts felt excessive. The food is experimental and enjoyable, but it’s more about the novelty than transcendent quality, especially for the price. Service, however, was shockingly dismissive. Over 2.5 hours, servers rotated with minimal engagement, often dropping plates with one-word descriptions (“This is A”). Worse, our main server barely interacted until abruptly slamming the bill mid-conversation. When tipping (likely below their expectation), the server ripped the receipt, snapped, “We need this table,” and stormed off— for a $600+ meal. After a similar rude experience two years ago, this sealed my decision: never again. The kitchen shines, but the staff’s indifference and outright hostility make it impossible to justify the cost or effort.

What can be said about Canoe that hasn’t been said already. Amazing views. Amazing food. Amazing cocktails and wines. Amazing service. Canoe has been one of our favourites over the last few years, in no small part due to Chef Ron’s culinary knowhow and vision. Knowing that today was to be Ron’s last day we had to stop by one more time to partake in some delectable food, delicious beverages, and delightful service. (All from the best seats in the house, on the Chef’s Rail!) Many thanks to Sarah for the service. Thanks to the rest of the FoH team and of course the BoH team, all for taking such great care of us today. And of course, Chef Ron himself for the conversation, and years of wonderful culinary excellence. Chef, you will be missed sir!

Big fan of the restaurant, dined here two years ago for wife's birthday. Came back for Valentine's Day, unfortunately not the same experience but still good. We are pretty easy going, however took hour and half for first serving on tasting menu to come out. We were wondering if it was wrong to expect it sooner, but then the couple beside us who got four courses before we got one, got up an left and said "you've been very patient, hope you get some food soon, hope it is good for you". All in all, would go back sometime in the future because the food is very good and setting beautiful, just next year will choose somewhere else. Thank you!

The food was great and our server was very nice. It was my girlfriend’s birthday so I asked them to try to do something special (I asked the front desk not our waiter to be discrete). They were very unenthusiastic about it. Didn’t comp the dessert we ordered or do anything at all. For a 500 dollar + bill and 20% tip it’s not about the money but the lack of trying to make it special for her on their part was extremely disappointing. I’ve never been to a restaurant where they wouldn’t try to provide a gesture to make it special for a special occasion. Left a bad taste in my mouth at the end of the night.

Wow. Seriously incredible meal. All the dishes read like they don’t make any sense yet, they were not only amazing but somehow familiar. Every dish evoked some olfactory memory. If you are looking for a restaurant to showcases Toronto cuisine, I cannot recommend Canoe more.
