The key to Indie Cafe’s success is simple cuisine, elegantly prepared. Chef Iggy Waranon's dishes feature a dynamic combination of savory Thai and simple Japanese cuisine, with an emphasis on the original flavor of the fresh ingredients. Fresh and seasonal fish is often touched by cilantro-infused oils, miso dressing, and Asian citrus for pop and personality. Indie Cafe's fun, casual, and modern Asian interior also lends itself to a comfortable and cozy night with friends. Before the rolls arrive, order up a Ginger or Lychee Martini to whet the appetite. Oh—and for an added bonus, they’re mere steps from the beach.Best New Restaurants, Chicago magazine America's Top Japanese Restaurants, 2008 Zagat

Watching the sushi chef lightly create, fold and roll each signature Sushi dish is a fascinating show. It is as if they are between two realities. They effortlessly combine, spread and slice the ingredients into a presentation with the same understanding and mental focus an artist has while drawing, painting or sculpting. The Sushi artists at NORI are both transfixed and upbeat in their purpose, while handing off creation after creation with the knowledge that the appreciation of each presentation is temporary. They must know the vast majority of their work will never receive accolades, show up on a magazine's cover, or be appreciation by a dedicated mass media audience. The food was very good. I am Cambodian myself and I loved how the chef used the flavors authentic to Cambodia and put her own twist on it — like the bone marrow plate. We did the “A Tasting Journey Through Siem Reap” with 5 courses and not 1 was disappointing. Well worth the $95 per person price tag! I would come again and I would definitely recommend this place to others!
