Best Contemporary American Restaurants in Vernon Hills

I took a group to Brasero. We really enjoyed the option to do family style or the normal menu. The group split the porterhouse which was excellent. The noodles and fried rice were a great pairing. Service and the staff were friendly and engaging making for a great night.

We came after my daughter’s band concert, around 8ish. I made a reservation just in case and to get my points on OpenTable. We got seated right away at a high top table. Ambiance is nice. There’s a good selection of alcohol from beer, seltzers, wine and other spirits. We all enjoyed our food choices of rigatoni, salmon, spicy shrimp, bbq smoke chicken and impossible burger. I do recommend for family, friends, and work outing.

Incredible food - the beef tartare was zesty and delicious, beef short ribs had body but could still be cut by a butter knife, and the oat financier dessert was a delightful, lightly salty, perfectly balanced dessert - all incredible. The beef short ribs had some of the best umami flavor I've ever had thanks to the roasted puree (I think celery?) they put on the dish. Great drinks as well, try the Bella & Beatrice if you like gin at all.

Once again, Jane and I had a marvelous evening at this venue. Our server was superb despite the restaurant operating with minimum labor (not the owners fault). The salmon special was quite tasty and the asparagus was delicious. Jane’s escargot was so tasty I had a few (first time in 40 years!). A lovely dinner.

Great dining value. Pork belly and cheese curds appetizer simply delicious. The cod was light, not greasy, delicious, good portion size. The star was the pickled coleslaw; wow, simple, light, a perfect contrast to the cod. Try the award winning beer. I’m not a beer drinker but I might be converted. Eric, our server was attentive and quick. Thank you Eric and thank you Tonality. Excellent meal, good value, reasonable.
