Thomas Makris, from the Island of Skopelos, fell in love when he met Helen Babalos. They met at Orestes Greek restaurant in 1974, while on a Greek dancing tour of North America. Soon after their marriage, they had a vision to open a place like no other in Vancouver; a Greek restaurant where everyone is family; where everyone receives a consistent experience created by delicious homemade authentic food and impeccable service. In 1984 they opened Anatoli Souvlaki in north Vancouver. We always love to go to Nammos for great Greek-style food. It is a great room, stylish and loud but not overly. The service was a bit spotty but very courteous. Food was good as usual. We were a bit disappointed about the wine offerings - nothing we wanted off the menu was available so why not just bring us a list of what you actually have rather than bring something you we might like. We accepted a recommendation for our first bottle but didn't really go with the meal and then they didn't have a second bottle. Not really acceptable. However we gave a 5 because we love the place!

Exceptional food and wonderful choices of beverages. The staff was great with the kids and could recognize when to check in with parents about drink options. Our server was excellent at recognizing when we needed more time, when we needed help, and who to talk to in order to minimize disruptions or interruptions. The meats and seafood were prepared to perfect finishes. Portions suggested were reasonable and the overall bill was actually quite reasonable for a meal of this calibre.
