Thomas Makris, from the Island of Skopelos, fell in love when he met Helen Babalos. They met at Orestes Greek restaurant in 1974, while on a Greek dancing tour of North America. Soon after their marriage, they had a vision to open a place like no other in Vancouver; a Greek restaurant where everyone is family; where everyone receives a consistent experience created by delicious homemade authentic food and impeccable service. It was my daughter’s birthday and initially we weren’t thrilled with the place where we were seated but the hostess moved us to a much nicer spot without complaint. She was very sweet actually. We had the vegan calamari and it was so good we ordered a second! The spanakopita dinner portion was enough for two people. The food was incredible. The EkMek was spectacular! The waitress was fantastic with a sweet and funny personality. The bellydancer was a beautiful added bonus! My daughter’s birthday experience was perfect. We really enjoyed ourselves.
