We booked an early sitting at Il Toscano in Long Jetty so we could secure a table inside, out of the heat of the day. The staff were friendly, and the ambiance was great. It seemed like there was quite good noise dampening in the restaurant, as we could talk to each other easily without raising our voices, despite the radio playing some lovely music, and the other tables being full. It’s a restaurant experience we haven’t had in while, as we’re rather used to being drained or strained from attempting to be heard over the noise on the floor. The food was also superb. There was gluten-free pasta for me which was cooked to perfection, but everyone was raving about the regular pasta as well, and the fluffiness of the tiramisu (which is made in the restaurant). The cocktails were also quite nice, I very much enjoyed the Hugo Spritz.

Wonderful location to dine at. Overlooking the waters out at Bondi. Got to see a glimpse of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race in the distance. We were initially seated at a table of two which faced each other near the pathway but were then moved to a comfortable position which looked straight out into the water. The interior was cool in comparison to the hot outdoors and windows were left open where a gentle sea breeze that drafted through felt refreshing. Amongst the dishes, the octopus salad was certainly the most intriguing and had a delectable taste. No element of the dish overpowered the other and tastes all melted together with an octopus that was cooked extremely well so was not rubbery like overcooked molluscs. A little steep in terms of costs but a great dining location and was a lovely location for a date.

The food, surroundings and service was excellent. Our waiter Francois really looked after us with excellent interpretation of the menu and the sommelier was equally as informative. I can recommend the veal. We will definitely be back very soon.
