The minimalist bistro-style restaurant hides a sumptuous surprise: downstairs lies a lounge bar where a back-lit marble bar is reflected in the regal mirror-wall opposite, and gold recesses glitter in the royal purple walls. Back upstairs, the largely traditional features lots of mouthwatering mezze and grilled meats. Carnivore and omnivore, everyone loves the fattoush salad. A unique cultural history has helped to make Lebanese food the most popular of all Middle Eastern cuisines. For most of its past, Lebanon has been ruled by foreign powers that have influenced the types of food the Lebanese ate. From 1516 to 1918, the Ottoman Turks controlled Lebanon and introduced a variety of foods that have become staples in the Lebanese diet, including olive oil, fresh bread, baklava (a sweet pastry dessert), laban (homemade yogurt), stuffed vegetables, and a variety of nuts. The Ottomans also increased the popularity of lamb. After the Ottomans were defeated in World War I (1914–1918), France took control of Lebanon until 1946, when the country won its independence. During this time, the French introduced some of their most widely eaten foods, particularly treats such as flan, a caramel custard dessert dating back to the 1500s, and buttery croissants.

This was my first time at this restaurant, and I'm glad I decided to book my Christmas reservation there. From the time you walk in, the atmosphere is terrific, with the pink flowers and vines in the right locations and lengths. I was seated at a table for one close to the front of the house. It was a good location, and I could observe everything happening. My servicer ( I believe his name was ( Fab), but I'm unsure. He explained the Christmas menu and advised me to select the regular one as the appetizers were too much for one person to enjoy. His suggestion paid off, and I enjoyed the salad, somas, and Lamb Shank. I could not finish all the food as it was too much. I ended my wonderful meal with a mint tea, which helped ease my stomach. It was a great end to my vacation in Chelsea and my Christmas. I highly recommend this place. I will visit again when I return to the area.

We visited Mezemiso for the first time to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and from beginning to end, we truly enjoyed the experience. It was a wonderful evening—the staff were amazing, attentive, kind, and very friendly. The food was delicious, and the cocktails were the best I’ve had in my 11 years living in London. The ambiance was fantastic, and the belly dancer, musician, and DJ were outstanding. On top of that, they made my husband’s birthday extra special by surprising us with a “Happy Birthday” song, involving all the staff and music. It was an incredibly memorable experience, and we both left very happy.
