- EEvonNew York City •4 reviews5.0Dined on Feb 1, 2025My family and I went to Tru Astoria last night for the first time to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The Tru team was very welcoming and the service was excellent. The music and the vibe were so awesome. We ordered appetizers (Fried calamari, Caesar salad and grilled octopus). The portions were all large and very tasty. For dinner we ordered Spicy Rigatoni, Tru Burger with fries, Salmon with cilantro mashed potatoes and Lamp Chops with lemon potatoes. OMG! Everything was so delicious!!!! I didn’t have dessert (because I was too full) but my husband and sons did. They had the cheesecake topped with blueberries and strawberries on the side and a chocolate molten cake with vanilla ice cream. They enjoyed their desserts very much! The staff even surprised my husband with birthday torches which made him feel special. The owner even came over to thank us for dining there and wanted to make sure that we enjoyed the food. We missed the live music which was going to start around 10 pm but we left around 9:30 pm. We will DEFINITELY be going back there. Great celebration restaurant. Tip: Street parking is not that great in the area but there is a Municipal Parking lot a couple blocks away on 33rd Street right off Ditmars.More infoTRU AstoriaPrice: Moderate• American• Ditmars Steinway•4.6
