Best Portuguese Restaurants in Glen Gardner

This was our first experience at this restaurant, Lagar, and we will make it one of our regulars. We were warmly welcomed on a quiet Tuesday night. Our waiter John was personable and attentive. The food was delicious. We will be back soon, thank you very much!

Excellent, as always! The chicken in garlic sauce is always the go-to for the misses. Our daughter-in-law also had the same. My son opted for the clams appetizer, which was so good that he couldn't stop dipping the bread in the broth! That could have been a meal in itself. He had the paella valencia, and I went different and ordered the skirt steak medium rare. Throw in a couple of pitchers of sangria, and we had a meal! Finished it off with a tartufo, Irish coffee, and an espresso martini. We don't go often, but when we do, it's a great experience.

So very good and wonderful choices. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful, very professional. Food was great and portions enough for two people. Will be back.

Absolutely FANTASTIC! I would travel back to Newark just to go! Decor was awesome. Place was big but so well designed. Food was incredible. Every bite of everything we ate was tasty. The staff couldn’t have been any better. We had 2 littles and they were SO kind to them. And engaging. Note they have very limited children’s menu options BUT our kiddos shared a skirt steak and loved it! They ate the entire thing! Can’t say enough good!
