This place is a national treasure. Between the history, the tenured, committed ownership, staff that have been there for years and treat all guests like royalty, The Monocle is one of our DC favorites. If you have visitors, it's a must place to take them, especially when Congress is in session. Food is great, with all the American classics!

Making a booking was key as we were there just before a Capital's home game. Even with the restaurant full of jerseys, our server was wonderful, repeating things and checking in with each end of our long table, and making sure drink orders were filled promptly. Dinner and dessert were tasty, and splitting the checks at the end of the night was a breeze. Great spot to gather in DC.

From the moment we arrived, the team greeted us warmly, with many wishing my girlfriend a happy birthday, which set a festive and welcoming tone. Rice’s service was truly exceptional. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and made thoughtful recommendations that elevated our dining experience. Every detail, from the timing of the courses to ensuring our glasses were never empty, was handled with care and precision. What stood out even more was the personal touch the entire team brought to the birthday celebration. The beautifully presented dessert and the genuine enthusiasm from the staff made my girlfriend feel so special. Rice’s professionalism made the evening perfect. Mastro’s went above and beyond to create a memorable night for us. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend asking for Rice if you want an exceptional dining experience.
