   The ambience and the location is very good and the vibe of the Distillery District but food is horrendous. The Taco Al Pastor was really bad, meat was chewy and inedible.

   I recently visited Restaurant after making a reservation and paying a $140 deposit in advance, as required. Unfortunately, the experience left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. When we arrived, we were informed that we only had one hour at our table—a restriction that was never communicated when I made the reservation or paid the deposit. I found this to be extremely unfair and inconsiderate. I followed their rules by securing the reservation and paying a significant deposit, only to be met with an arbitrary time limit that undermined the dining experience. To make matters worse, it took the staff 20 to 25 minutes to seat us after I pushed back against the time restriction. I explained that whether we finished our meal within the hour depended entirely on how efficient their staff was. Unfortunately, things were off to a bad start, and this delay only added to the frustration. The entire experience came across as rude and dismissive. Rather than creating a welcoming and relaxing environment, it felt like the restaurant was more interested in enforcing strict policies than ensuring customer satisfaction. Dining out is supposed to be enjoyable, but instead, I felt rushed and unwelcome. While the food and ambiance might be good, the lack of transparency and the inconsiderate approach to handling reservations overshadowed the evening. A restaurant that takes a large deposit and then imposes unnecessary restrictions on its customers isn’t one I’m eager to support. I don’t know if I’ll return—it’s hard to justify going back after such a frustrating and poorly handled experience.

   I arrived and inquired about seating available slightly earlier. The hostess claimed there was no seating. Suddenly when I asked to cancel my reservation to go elsewhere for my birthday celebration they said they had a table. When I went in and was seated there were many empty tables and the hassle wasn’t necessary after all especially after making reservations. Though the food and ambience was good. The service is the only reason I’d hesitate on returning.

   Our server was Victoria and she was absolutely fantastic- we will ask for her when we go back, which we definitely will, she made us feel so at home and table service was fast and friendly. The front desk was a bit messy - originally they had us just sit and wait for our table, but then when they sent others right in and we went back and asked again, they took us straight to a table. Baja fish tacos were fantastic, but so was everything. Loved the margaritas and the sangria as well.

   El Catrin never disappoints. The food was excellent. The service was exceptional. We had a group of seven for a holiday celebration with colleagues and they were very patient with us as we chatted and took a bit longer to order. The guacamole is so delicious! And the flight of margaritas was excellent. I shared with a friend. I had the blood orange and hibiscus which were so good. My friend found them a bit sweet. Thank you!
