Best Authentic Restaurants in Mechanicsville

I truly believe this is the best Mexican restaurant in Richmond and the surrounding areas. The homemade tortillas really make a difference, and I was particularly impressed by the tacos and the green posole—both were exceptional. The Margaritas, crafted with agave, were delightful and added a special touch to the meal. On top of that, the service was outstanding, which made the experience even better. I can't wait to return!

I’ll try to avoid exaggeration here but I may have just had the best meal of my life. I had the special which was shrimp and sausage with orecchiette pasta and it was so good. I mean just really really incredible. My dinner partner had the famous 5 which is basically their spaghetti. It was the best spaghetti I have ever tasted and I’ve had plenty. The service was incredible. The entire meal took about 40 minutes from the time we sat down and we had an appetizer as well. The value is great considering we have leftovers for 3 more days and that is not hyperbole. This is the best restaurant for the money in richmond Virginia. Of that I have no doubt.

Outstanding food and service above and beyond!! Jeremy is the best waiter I have ever had the pleasure of interacting with. He expertly prepared cocktails for all in our party and effectively entertained us while informing on menu and specials. He seemed more of a trusted friend than a waiter. I can strongly recommend La Grotta for both food and outstanding service!
