Founded in 1995, a tavola is one of the city’s best restaurants, bringing Chicago an intimate and authentic dining experience. At a tavola the emphasis is, appropriately, on the food. Authentic dishes from Italian regions are re-created using Italian cooking methods and the finest imported Italian products.a tavola is the culmination of professional cooking experience by Daniel Bocik, a versatile chef from Chicago, who brings back home the knowledge and experience of an education at the California Culinary Academy and the finest restaurants of San Francisco, Paris, and Milan. To ensure the freshest food at a tavola, fresh fruits and vegetables are selected from a local organic farmer, meats and seafood are personally selected by Chef Dan from local markets.

Authentic Quad Cities-style pizza. Known for the sweet malt crust, scissor strip cuts, and fresh ingredients, Roots has been serving West Town since 2010. Oh and don't forget about the famous mozzarella sticks, incredible salads, or those chef series pizzas. Painstakingly crafted comfort food made with fresh, local ingredients. House-made root beer and tons of fun for the kids. A Midwest-only (non)root beer list and late-night hours for the night owls. So come on in. Bring the kids. It’s a new Chicago tradition, and it’s damn good.

Akahoshi Ramen is a humble ramen shop in the city of Chicago. Everything is made in the restaurant, including all soups, seasonings, toppings, and noodles. We are not an authentic ramen shop, though we value the history of ramen, and our ramen is influenced by its past and its future potential. The dish, popularized in Japan after World War 2, is symbolic of both struggle and perseverance. It is both a simple dish, and a fantastically complex one that we treat with reverence and respect. Roughly translating to “Red Star,” the name “Akahoshi” is a love letter to two cities; Sapporo, Hokkaido, where red stars adorn city monuments, and Chicago, Illinois, where the red star decorates the city flag. Our ramen is influenced by Japanese and American ideals in cooking. We hope you will join us to enjoy a bowl of ramen, made with the respect and passion it deserves.

As fans of Rose Mary we were eager to try El Carciofi and willing to take a 4:45 reservation. This is as fun and as delicious as Rose Mary and shares the same approach to dining—shareable small plates. Interesting craft cocktails, sufficient wines by the glass, exceptionally well trained wait staff and very flavorful food. Gus menu was all Rome inspired so it was a little less diverse than Rose Mary. The artichokes were spectacular crisply Rome style. Every inch was edible. Two to an order but they bring you a serrated knife if you want to have them. We had one other appetizer (calamari), one pasta and one seafood main. The portions are great for two to share but if three or four order another something or two and expect to get just a couple bites not full servings. They have $8 servings of gelato and sorbet and a couple amazing deserts they offered to checkout coats.a nice touch in Chicago’s winter. It’s easy to spend $100 per person if you gave two drinks each and desert. We found street parking but forgot to feed the meter since the sign wasn’t obvious so double check
