The menu is the same, but the food isn't quite as good. We live 40 minutes away and have always looked forward to making the trek to Brewster because we knew that this was one of the finest restaurants in the Lower Hudson Valley, but if our latest experience is representative, The Arch has dropped a notch. For example, the sauce for the Beef Wellington was overly salty, the orange sauce for the excellent duck was a tad too sweet, and the chocolate soufflés hardly tasted of chocolate. Owner Tracey Kydes goes out of his way to make everything right. His staff is hard working and friendly. Great food, food coupled with attentive service from the staff. Excellent team work from the front of the house back to the kitchen. Solid value prop and the dining room is spacious enough to enjoy conversation without it getting too loud. Our waitress came by and knew exactly which wine I would order. She brought over a small light which made our window seat much brighter. When it was time to order she joked with us, "The usual?" For me, yes. For my husband, no. He branched out to try another choice. The only problem we encountered was the table for two was hardly large enough to hold the large - and full - dinner and salad plates. We always have enough left on our plates to take home because of their enormous servings.
