Best Casual Restaurants in Downers Grove

Our food was excellent, our server not so much. The worst is when he put dirty glasses from another table down on our table to take an order and then left them there despite many trips past or table and us trying to get his attention. That not one of the waiters passing our table picked up over 10 glasses at the end of our table was a joke. The end of our table was literally in an aisle to a pathway to the kitchen and bar. We had to remind him we ordered drinks (he said they were busy, we were right next to the bar - not that busy, forgot another bottle of water (we asked 3 times) Did not check our table after serving dinner and took forever to bring the dessert menu and check. I really think he was just trolling us at the end. I have not had this bad of service in a long, long time and we eat out at least once a week. The food was outstanding from the meat and cheese appetizer, to the pizzas and truffle dish, the seasonal dessert was the favorite at our table. We will return, but certainly ask for another server. As the holidays ramp up, service needs to be much, much better or I'm afraid the restaurant will suffer and this was on a Monday.

Food was good but prices seem to be increasing every time we visit which is every month. Very disappointed that barramundi is not on the menu anymore! Also the people behind us had the same complaint. Alma did a nice job of serving us. I hope that we can continue being wine club members but don’t like to see so many price increases.

We had a very relaxing lunch at The Table at Crate. My husband and I decided to have a “Date Day” to celebrate our 20 year dating anniversary. We were greeted politely, served by an amazing waitress, and received a free dessert with champagne to celebrate. It was fabulous and super generous!

This place is great! We first tried it last Spring and it quickly became our favorite for Italian. We have tried seafood and steak specials too and have never been disappointed. The service is top notch and the food is amazing. You can’t find this quality of food for the price anywhere in the area. Highly recommended spot.

My husband and I went for his birthday last night and it was even better than expected! The service was amazing and our waiter had great suggestions. We absolutely loved everything we ate and the drinks were delicious! We will definitely be going back someday.
