Best Casual Restaurants in Salem

Overall it was nice on a cold winters night. I had the cauliflower steak- which was barely cooked. So I got a 1/2 inch slab of cauliflower, few stalks of broccoli and hummus for $20. How can you screw that up? Service was super slow and there was not even an event at the time. But we will try again . . .

We made a reservation weeks in advance for my boyfriend's birthday. When we arrived, the host and hostess were very professional. I left a note about his birthday and this was acknowledged throughout the evening. We were seated promptly and ordered with our server, who was fantastic the entire evening, a real pro! The appetizer, entree, and desserts were all delicious and we can't wait to return.

Nice classic italian with inviting decor. Good service. Good wine options. Tasty (but large) food portions. Warm, cozy atmosphere. Will go back.

Wanted to find a new local place for date night dinner and found Ellis Square Social. Perfect vibe for us on a cold winter evening! Fun cocktails not overly proofy. My entree of pork chop with pumpkin bread pudding, apples, and mushrooms was excellent and my husband really enjoyed his grilled cheese with brisket that came with a huge pile of thin fries. Sticky toffee pudding we got for dessert was so good! Our waitress was lovely and helpful. Can’t wait to go back.

Our Bartender was excellent! The food was amazing! We got the steak and eggs and the breakfast wrap! Absolutely amazing!! Can’t wait to go back! But the star was the lemon ricotta donuts served warm with homemade jam!!!
