Haikan is our second Sapporo Ramen shop in DC after Daikaya. Haikan means, “pipe works” in Japanese, an ode to Atlantic Plumbing Building where we are located. At Haikan, we focused on creating the taste of ramen from the showa period, the golden age of ramen in Japan. From the moment we stepped in and to the moment we left, we were such well taken cared for. SHIA thought of every little detail. Not only was the food amazing but it truly was the people that made the difference. You could feel the warmth and genuineness shine through every person we interacted with. It was a cozy and intimate night we won't ever forget.

Greeted with a warm smile, I opted to sit at the bar. Chris made some great recommendations, I chose the Basil rye old fashioned. For appetizer, I enjoyed the octopus carpaccio, which was delightful and perfectly flavored. Main course I went for the club sandwich. Definitely tasty combination of flavors. They also gave me some focaccia bread with what appeared to be kalamata olives! I can never resist a good tiramisu, so I opted for one, and I am glad I did. Overall, it was a great experience with good food and welcoming staff. Justin checked on me several times. The chef also came by to inquire about the food and some feedback, which shows how much they truly care about guest's experience. Definitely recommend!
