Unfortunately, I did have a mishap with payment where I’ve been charged 3 times so please pay attention to your waiter & those little handheld devices.More infoBarbarellaPrice: Moderate• European• La Jolla•4.3

- SSusanChicago / Illinois •19 reviews4.0Dined on Jan 12, 2025We were seated timely for our reservation. The menu is small, but varied. They offered samplings of wine so I could decide which one i preferred. I sampled the Tempranillo and Super Tuscan. I ended up with the cabernet which was less expensive and suited my wine style better. We shared the Carrot Salad, a combo of shaved carrot and asparagus, orange, fresno chili pepper and poppyseed dressing. The taste was lovely and the veggies were crisp, probably kept in ice water. There was a bit too much dressing for my taste, but that is a personal preference. For entrees, my husband had the Sweet and Slow Pork Chop. Very tender and flavorful. While he liked it, his comment was that it was something you would get at many places, without distinction. I ordered the Mediterranean Stuffed Pepper. This is not your Mother’s stuffed pepper!!! There was a balanced mix of shredded lamb bites, cauliflower and other veggies in a bell pepper topped with goat cheese sauce and pistachios and nicely roasted on the outside. This was served over a bed of wild rice with cranberries. The rice was cooked al dente which gave it a nice “chew”. When all those flavors blended together, it was divine. I highly recommend this dish. For those of you trying to explore how to increase veggies, legumes, and grains vis-a-vis proteins, this is a great example. A couple of observations which were not obnoxious, but just a tad annoying. The delivery time from ordering to receiving our drinks or food was a bit longer than we expected. We dined on a Saturday at the height of dinner service, and our waitress, Jeda, was very knowledgeable, courteous, and did tell us when food was coming. The good news is that the food was hot when it came out, so you know it didn’t sit for long. The other observation relates to the style of silverware - round handles slip in your hands and make it more challenging to eat.More infoSlowly Restaurant & LoungePrice: Expensive• Mediterranean• Pacific Beach•4.6
