The Punchbowl is a 17th century gastro pub, located in the heart of rural Essex and the Crouch Valley and the South Essex Salt marshes. We offer nose-to-tail style menu, with unpretentious dishes that focus on flavour. Everything is made in house - from bread to mayonnaise, and we use local, seasonal and organic ingredients. We had an afternoon tea. The food was exceptionally fresh and tasty. The scones were warm and the tea was high quality. The service was lovely; the waiting staff particularly helpful and attentive. What we loved was it was a relaxing atmosphere and we didn’t feel rushed.

A stylish place to eat, plenty of space. Waiters readily available. Lovely food, very varied with finishing touches added to the plate. We have only had brunch/lunch but can recommend the Turkish breakfast.
