Our aim is to be the central hub of the community, The Axe and Compasses is a traditional British village pub dating back to 1628, serving a wide and varied selection of quality lagers, cask conditioned ales, fine wines, and premium spirits. We always have a lovely time at the Sword- today didn’t disappoint. We had a toast which was perfect- portion and temperature. The pub was busy but not noisy. We weren’t rushed either. The staff as always were friendly helpful and efficient. Thank you very much.

After our last experience at The Bull I swore never to return however it seems to have been completely turned around, I even asked if it had changed hands! The roasts are now served directly from the kitchen instead of in the restaurant area, which is much better than having to queue. The ambiance is relaxed and organised, compared to the chaos of our last visit. Prices are a little too high, but I had a children's roast at £9.50 which was more than sufficient. Well done The Bull, can't wait to return!
