- TTrevorVIPGreater Boston •13 reviews5.0Dined 1 day agoAn event ended earlier then expected so we arrived at 3:30 when reservation wasn’t until 5. Was hoping maybe to get drinks at the bar. Host and staff were so gracious and set us up right in front of the fire at a table. We had a bottle of champagne with a cheese plate and oysters until it was dinner time. Then split the royale with cheese burger (amazing) and pillowy soft gnocchi. Everybody was so welcoming and nice, especially since we were kind of crashing the dining room well before service. We had just come from a vintage photo shoot and our photographer hung out with us and a few drinks as well, of course her and my wife snapped a few more photos but everyone just rolled with it that we were some 30s weirdos just hanging out an hour and a half before our reservation. Beautiful place, amazing ambiance, great food, good drinks. We go every year for our anniversary, just usually not in costume. Looking forward to next year!More infoThe Dining Room at the VanderbiltPrice: Expensive• Contemporary American• Newport•4.5

- EElizabethRhode Island •1 review5.0Dined on Jan 4, 2025This is a great place to find good wine in all price ranges and with an experienced, knowledgeable wait staff. Our waiter knew how the food was prepared, how to pronounce it, and from what region it derived. He also answered our questions about the wine very well. The veal chop that my husband had was cooked perfectly and was delicious. I enjoyed every course, too. I would recommend this restaurant for those who care about good food and who might find the old house where this restaurant operates and its homey amenities charming. It's a bit tight up the staircase, and one gets the sense of eating in Nonna's dining room, but that makes it a culinary experience worth making the trip to lower Thames Street.More infoMamma Luisa Italian RestaurantPrice: Very Expensive• Italian• Newport•4.7

Our dinner on Christmas Eve was slow arriving from the kitchen, but fortunately there was a beautiful ambience to enjoy the evening with my man.
