Inspired by Ernest Hemingway and named for his beloved boat, Pilar is a neighborhood restaurant that has been a mainstay of 14th street for over a decade.     We went to Mallard's for Valentine's Day weekend. We had seen a great article about it in the Washington Post. It was our first time there and we enjoyed it! The food was great, even though they had a curated set of options for the holiday. We enjoyed what we had, especially the waygu beef entree, and we look forward to exploring the broader dinner menu which looked spectacular. The service was exceptional and our server was attentive, personable, and insightful. Well done, Mallard. We look forward to our next visit!

    My wife and I came into town for Valentines Day. We booked our reservation a few days in advance and we were not disappointed. The first thing we noticed was the unique decor and louder music. It made for a great ambiance and the designs of the restaurant gave it an upbeat yet stylish feel. Our server was Kaitlin and she was very kind. She attended well to us and took care of making us feel welcome. My wife had the half chicken and I had the chicken tacos. Our food was absolutely sensational , the chicken fell off the bone and was just so perfectly cooked. The desserts were great too. We enjoyed the Tres Leche the most. We highly recommend Mi Vida and Kaitlin is an excellent server and will take care of all needs.

    We enjoyed an excellent bottle of Sauvignon blanc here. The French onion soup is wonderful too. Our entrees were short rib lasagna…unusual and very tasty. Their panna cotta is the real deal…highly recommend it. Perfect meal on a very cold day.

    We had a lovely dinner, but upstairs was very loud. The combo of crowd voices and loud music made it hard to have a conversation. Drinks were great and fries very tasty. Really enjoyed the Brussell sprouts! Service was good and server very friendly, but felt like she was really in the weeds and therefore unable to pay as much attention to us as she would have liked. But others stepped in to help when she was unable to, so your team was working well together.
