The Grain House Restaurant is located on the picturesque 10-acre estate of the Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge, NJ. The Grain House structure was originally built as a barn in the 1760’s and was used to store grain for American Revolutionary soldiers. The barn was later moved to its current location and opened as a restaurant in the 1930’s.     Ancona Bistro offers a limited menu but the food quality and service level are quite high. The calamari appetizer was fantastic as the calamari was very tender and the marinara sauce very tasty. The main course special was cavatelli with sausage and shrimp with a light white sauce. Also, very good!

    It’s our first time at this place, even though we’ve been seeing it for over two decades. In short, we were quite pleasantly surprised by the taste of the food, as it was light but very flavorful - not as salty as we thought we’d get from almost any Italian restaurant we’ve been to, some of which are very good in their own right. However, this lightness in taste stood out, be it the prosciutto in the salad or the clams in pasta. We’ll come back for sure.
