A $23 French toast should be brioche bread thick cut not standard bread standard slices. The bacon was cool if not cold. Which of course means it was made in bulk at an earlier time. We waited nearly 40 minutes for our food and regardless of how busy you are they should’ve made the food fresh. Especially when it was ordered à la cart and we paid à la cart prices. The view is priceless and the facility itself is beautiful. One can’t complain about seeing Lake Michigan from their window while eating breakfast. Coffee was excellent if a little weak. But that’s just a personal preference. Premium pricing is acceptable under the circumstances but not with the current quality of food. This was average food in a above average setting and left us wanting for something a little more exciting and interesting. I could understand if it was a buffet but to serve cool or relatively older food rather than freshly make it and preserve it to the table piping hot is not acceptable. Our server Juan enhance our dining experience with his exemplary level of service and knowledge of Spanish cuisine. He guided us through the entire dining process from picking out the best steak for our tastes we anre heavy into dry aged steak. He suggested a steak that was a special for the evening and the sides to complement. I’m giving Asador Bastian 4 stars because I wish the portion of the steak tartare was larger. That was a disappointment. Otherwise, the service, ambiance, quality of cuisine was outstanding. We enjoyed the fried green tomato BLT as an appetizer; I ordered shrimp and grits; my husband ordered the short ribs. Both were divine! Flavorful and presented beautifully. The service was excellent. Our server was attentive and most pleasant. He didn’t miss a beat. Two different managers came to our table to introduce themselves and check on our experience. They even treated us to a banana pudding cheesecake. That was above and beyond. We left feeling totally content. The food was delish and the service utterly delightful. The timing of the service of each course was perfect! We never felt rushed and we did take our time enjoying each and every bite! All staff were great. Our server Nina was exceptional! Great knowledge of the dishes as well as the wines that complimented them. She was so genuine, nice and fun which added so much to our experience! We had the squash blossoms, blue prawns, insulate di cicoria (which was plentiful- we shared it) wild boar papperdelle pasta dish, and spaghetti ala vongole! Had a great bottle of vermentino that was featured this week. Finished with tiramisu, espresso martini and limoncello! Buonissima! Almost forgot to mention the view!
