- LLisaPhiladelphia County •63 reviews5.0Dined on Dec 28, 2024As a last minute addition to this year’s holiday celebrations, I decided to treat my daughter to high tea at the Akwaaba Tea Salon! We both had been wanting to visit the Tea Salon and what better time than the present for an impromptu visit! I’m so glad I did! We had such a lovely time at high tea! We were warmly greeted by the hostess, and although we were a bit early, we were promptly seated at a quaint table. Our lovely server, Mekhia(? sorry if I spelled her name incorrectly)explained the different types of tea selections and let us know how the afternoon would unfold. Absolutely everything about our time at the Tea Salon was great! The tea was flavorful and soothing and the food from the scones to the petit sandwiches and desserts were delicious! And the entire staff we interacted with were lovely. At first I wasn’t sure what to think about prepaying, but when were finished and had spent a good time leisurely chatting(90 minutes is actually longer than I thought it was), I actually loved that the whole “check please” was eliminated. And although the gratuity was included in the prepayment, I left an extra small tip because we really did have a lovely time! Looking forward to visiting the Tea Salon again soon.More infoAkwaaba Tea SalonPrice: Expensive• Afternoon Tea• West Philadelphia•5

- CChrissyVirginia •1 review4.0Dined on Dec 6, 2024We were seated immediately upon arrival. Our waitress came over within 2 minutes of us sitting down (hadn’t had a chance to select drinks or food) and brought water. We don’t see her again for another 10 or so minutes. After ordering, we waited another 10 minutes for my drink and had to request my husbands drink again. The lavender martini was delicious but tasted heavy on the orange with little lavender to taste. We ordered wood fired pizzas (sausage/pepperoni and the short rib). They were both tasty but each slide of the short rib pizza had about 1 bite of short rib…was heavy on the mushroom and onion. I suggested the chef spread the love of the short rib more throughout the pizza. We did list that we were celebrating our birthdays but there was no recognition of it (not even a Happy Birthday upon arrival)…not sure what the point was of listing this. Overall, the experience was ok but for $70, wouldn’t say it was entirely worth it.More infoLaScala's Fire-University CityPrice: Moderate• Italian• University City•4.5
