The 1740 General Stanton Inn was named best new restaurant in Southern Rhode Island. Dine in one of our custom designed Igloos By the Sea at The Coast Guard House. There is an igloo rental fee for $100 for three hours. Each igloo is outfitted with a Bluetooth speaker, fireplace and heater. However, we do recommend dressing warmly and/or in layers. Our full menu is available for your enjoyment. We can not guarantee any specific igloo. Igloo reservations can be cancelled in inclement weather. There is a credit hold for $20 per person to complete your reservation.     Our party was greeted at the door and promptly seated. Definitely need a reservation here. The layout had a number of floors with small dining rooms on each. The ambiance was cozy - roaring fires, natural holiday decorations, soft lighting. The noise level was moderate - conversations happened easily at normal talking volume. The wine list was extensive, while the beer offerings were lackluster. The menu focuses on New England cuisine with many heavy, warming dishes. We visited during December, so it’s possible they have a different seasonal menu for the warmer months. Our server was attentive, but not annoying.
