Another outstanding dinner at Davis St. From the moment you enter the door, the restaurant’s buzz and elegance set the tone for a unforgetable evening. Soft, ambient green glass lighting casts a gentle glow over tables dressed in crisp linens and background music complements the lively hum of conversation. The décor strikes a perfect balance between modern sophistication and cozy charm. The service here is polished and attentive without ever feeling intrusive. The extensive winelist is matched by thoughtful wine pairings and flights. The bartender has an uncanny knack for anticipating guests’ needs. She was truly impressive on each visit. The genuine warmth and enthusiasm for the menu shines through each interaction with the entire staff who operate seamlessly. Traditional gumbo can be a comforting, soulful classic, but this kitchen’s version demonstrated a flair for creativity. The sea bass was, quite simply, divine. The fillet boasted a crisp, golden crust on top that yielded to buttery, pearlescent flesh with a bright citrus glaze and broth offered a pleasant tang and balancing the meal with bok choy. As if one outstanding fish course wasn’t enough, the halibut arrived, generously crowned with sweet crabmeat. For those craving something beyond the sea, the cornish hen did not disappoint. A gorgeously roasted, mahogany-hued bird deliciously spiced and roasted arrived perched on a bed of savory grains. It clearly delivered a succulent dining experience through its moist, tender meat and delicate flavors. The dessert courses here are always incredible and this time (once again) was crowned by a blissful coconut cake. In every dish, it was evident that the chef approached classic flavors with imagination, technique, and a respect for top-quality ingredients.

Le Jardinier fully deserves its new Michelin star. Our group of four had lunch after a museum visit. Everything from the ambience to the food to the service was spectacular. My squid ink shellfish ravioli was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted anywhere in the world, and our most carnivorous diner pronounced the Wagyu burger “the best piece of meat I’ve ever had.” Bravi to everyone at Le Jardinier!
