The menu was a celebration of Scotland’s finest ingredients, showcasing local produce and age-old recipes with a contemporary twist. I started with the Cullen skink, a velvety smoked haddock soup that was both comforting and rich in flavour. For the main courses, we had the seafood stew and the venison meatpie; both were excellent. For dessert, the warm orange cake was a delightful finale. It was a true taste of Scottish heritage. The staff were incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable; their passion for Scottish cuisine shone through every interaction. Galician fillet steak was a game changer compared to scotch fillet steak as recommended by our waitress, fantastic cut of meat indeed!

Have been to the sugar boat a couple of times and always enjoyed the homemade feel and authenticity of the food. The staff were very friendly and the food this time was generally really good. I was just a bit disappointed with the homemade burger, it was very dence, dry and seemed over cooked, seemed to have no moisture in it at all, could be the fat to meat content in the mince used, if it’s homemade could you offer to cook it slightly under, so much so I only ate a bit of it! I had the scollops from the specials menu as a starter these were very tasty, and my friend also had humounus and sourdough which he enjoyed a lot and he went on to have fish and chips which he thought was very good. Will not put me of going again, but would put me off having the burger again!

Fabulous decor, helpful staff, food was amazing we had a few different plates to share highly recommend seafood one, cocktails are a must, prices very reasonable, perfect for girls day/night out or romantic meal for two

Lovely cosy restaurant. Sat in one of their booths and it felt cosy and private. Good food choices and top marks for providing gluten free options. The food was very tasty and the staff were friendly and helpful.
