Best Restaurants with a Tasting Menu in ByWard Market

Bread cake with black sesame ice-cream is under rated. Just do it. Best item on menu. Black cod was very nice.

The food, service and ambiance were all excellent! Perfect spot for the best food, service, location, ambiance etc. It's the whole package for a perfect dining experience. I sincerely thank everyone that puts in the effort to make this my favorite restaurant in Ottawa.

This was our second time visiting Play, and we were lucky enough to get the same server, Paul, who was amazing at providing recommendations and insight into the menu options. The food and flavours are to die for, they have a unique way of mixing flavours in each dish! We will definitely be back!

Our food was delicious. I particularly liked my dinner's rice and charred shishito peppers. My mocktail was mostly ice with very little ginger beer. My host liked his wine. Our waiter recommended we order 2 appetizers and 2 mains, which would have been too much for us to eat as the main courses are substantial. We're glad we didn't take his recommendation. Service was fine up to and including our after-dinner coffees, then our waiter disappeared, It was almost 11pm (we'd arrived for dinner at shortly before our 9pm reservation time) so by then we may have been the last patrons in the restaurant. Did our waiter forget we were there? We flagged down a waitress who was cleaning up the other tables and she brought us our bill. We'll return to the restaurant as the ambiance and food were excellent and they serve dinner late, but we hope our service is better the next time. Or we'll ask for the bill when we get our coffees.

The restaurant was virtually empty on a Thursday evening. I had the sirloin steak and it was probably the best steak I've ever had. The staff were equally amazing. I highly recommend.
