Best Romantic Restaurants in Downers Grove

Waiter was a gem! It was hot though, lot of steam caused it but we wore sweaters and it felt hot.

We reserved a table for our anniversary and when we were seated, there was a card showing “Happy Anniversary”; what a beautiful welcome! Our server, Davis, came by, introduced himself, and offered us a complimentary flute of sparkling wine, which we accepted. We ended up ordering a bottle of the sparkling wine with dinner it was that good. We started with splitting a sautéed calamari app since my wife has a gluten allergy; it was a bit hot but very tasty. She had the beet salad next and I had the Caesar salad, both on pointe. Our entrees were the chef’s sliced tenderloin with cippolinni onions and mushrooms and the tomahawk veal chop with mushrooms and demi-glacé. Both were off-the-hook and actually too much for us to finish so we asked to have our leftovers wrapped. After our entrees, Davis brought a complimentary dessert plate with a flourless chocolate mini cake and a mini cheesecake with “Happy Anniversary” stenciled in chocolate. What a finishing touch! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit; the atmosphere and cuisine was outstanding! Davis made our evening very memorable and we even had a visit from the manager on duty to wish us anniversary greetings!

From beginning to end, it was a great dinner. We arrived early for our reservation so found seats at the bar. Cocktails were all very good. They had a great list of mock tails too. Violi has a really cool vibe, but the conversation is loud if that bothers you. Great service. Plates are designed to share and all 6 of us did. We liked everything we tried from the lamb shank to branzino and the mousaka. Will definitely return !

We usually go early about 4:30 when I get off work. (Part time. Dinner out is a perk of working part time after retirement) It’s always quiet! We had Victor as our server the last couple times. He makes every visit really fun!we always order the saganaki. Opa! Victor makes it special.we both had Gyros tonight. Great and left overs galore! We were happy once again! Can’t recommend it strongly enough.❤️

Great atmosphere and the buffalo shrimp are amazing
