Selden Standard’s fare features flavors born in local farms, captured at the peak of the season, prepared in their wood-fired oven, and served small plates-style in shareable portions. Complementing the menu are wines from small producers, distinctive brews, and cocktails to suit the seasons. Selden is rustic and casual, but with an ever-present eye for quality, creativity, and fun. Chef Andy Hollyday is a 2023 James Beard finalist and four-time semi-finalist. Located in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit, TAKOI is known for modern Thai cooking accented with Michigan seasonality, a DIY mentality, and a penchant for local food production. As a core pillar of our mission, TAKOI operates HiO Farm which is located just a mile north of the restaurant. During the height of farm season, the restaurant highlights dishes prepared with HiO produce utilizing the techniques and flavors inspired by Thailand and beyond. TAKOI, originally KATOI, began as a food truck in 2014, evolved into an Ann Arbor pop-up, and landed as a proper restaurant at 2520 Michigan Avenue in March of 2016. After being open for 11 months, having a slew of fun, and garnering a handful of awards — including a James Beard 'Best New Restaurant' nomination— KATOI was brought back down to earth when it was subjected to arson in February 2017. The day after the fire, the rebuild began, and we opened as TAKOI exactly six months later in August 2017.

In a city that is developing a nationwide reputation for creative cuisine, Takoi remains a benchmark. We used this dinner to introduce four friends — all with significant “foodie” bona fides — to Takoi and they were all blown away. The theme is dominantly Thai. I am cautious about introducing the word, “fusion,” because it has been so bastardized. But Takoi revives the original meaning, staying true to its roots while adding distinctive new flavor tones and textures that can take you by surprise. From start to finish, each dish seemed to outdo the prior one, from the carrots to the noodles to the sea bream. Add wonderful service and Takoi remains a delight everyone needs to experience.

We tried 6 dishes plus dessert (pavlova) and everything tasted great. The service was also great, never had to ask for a water refill, very attentive. The music was a little loud, but not terrible. Will definitely go back!

Beautiful old building is worth the trip, particularly right next to Michigan Central which is lit up festively for the season, but the food was great too - we got fried cheese, pretzel and dip, and tri-dip apps and it was before 6 so we got happy hour prices. All of them were excellent. Entrees included fish n chips, salads, and pasta and we all joined the clean plate club with them. Would definitely recommend if visiting the train station or Senate Theater.

Always a favorite for us for special occasions. Ross was our waiter and he did a fantastic job, some of the food ( sushi ), didn’t come out at the same time ( no biggee for us ), Ross handled it like a pro! Thanks as always for a great evening.

Great food, excellent service. We loved the explanation of the courses as they came to the table as well as the drinks that got explained. My vegetarian friend really appreciated the options they had for her! Overall, a great venue for a work gathering. Which is what we were there for. We had the 5 course menu option and it was a 2.5 hour event. It was the perfect timing for me and my team. Would recommend, and will return in the future.
