Our famous giant stuffed burgers were named Best in America by GQ in 2012 and Best in Grand Rapids by Grand Rapids Magazine and On the Town. Mertens Prime, located in the historic 1914 New Hotel Mertens lobby in Grand Rapids, offers locally sourced, in-house hand-cut steaks, chops, and unique takes on classics. Scratch made kitchen where we make all the pastas and desserts. We have a large selection for vegan & vegetarian.Prime features a full-service espresso machine and classic pastries like beignets.     Nice place. Friendly server. Food came out fairly quick. Had the government cheese burger with onion rings. Burger was good. Onion rings were great. Bathroom was freezing.

    Great food. More authentic than your typical Mexican fare. Waiter was attentive not overbearing. I liked the Mahi Mahi fish tacos ! Dedicated parking is a plus on a cold winter night. We will be going back there.

    My husband and I went to Merton’s Prime for Christmas dinner. They had a special menu - there were several choices for main dishes, appetizers, side, dishes, and desserts. There’s an extensive wine and drink menu. We were seated immediately, and our waitress was top-notch. The food was delicious and we had a lovely, relaxing dinner. We weren’t rushed and enjoyed every minute of our experience.

    Food was typical bar food with only one vegan option, a vegan burger, which was decent. Happy to have something I could eat. Didn't like that we were at a standing table, outside, in front of the stage but told we had to stay in our seat, couldn't even stand at the table with the chair right behind us. Last thing I want to do after sitting at a desk all day is sit and listen to a good band... let me move my legs just a little bit while staying at my table.
