Susan, Duchess of Richmond was one of the Soil Association’s earliest members. Located in the heart of the Goodwood Estate and surrounded by the South Downs National Park, The Star & Garter in East Dean offers a delicious selection of freshly cooked, local and seasonal food in a charming dining space with red brick and oak beams. Just a mile down the hill from Goodwood Race Course we are 12 minutes drive from Chichester. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner we try to source our ingredients as locally and as seasonally as possible. Whether you are at a Goodwood Event or walking, cycling or just out for a drive and fancy a decent meal at reasonable prices, we like to think we are one of the best around. We have a great courtyard and garden space which can seat up to 100 people. Freshly ground coffee is available all day. With a mixture of local people and tourists there's always a warm welcome here.

    Food was great, but the staff made the experience 1000% better. I interacted with multiple waiters and all of them were so kind and attentive. I went there for my birthday alone and they were so amazing. I had a birthday card waiting for me when I got there, got a complimentary drink and they put a candle on my dessert. I didn't feel lonely at my dinner and I was also sitting at the counter so it was interesting looking into the kitchen. I would recommend this to anyone who hasn't been before.

    Fantastic meal at Mildreds Victoria. The Christmas roast was absolutely delicious (rivalling a home cooked Christmas meal) with added Christmas crackers and stickers. Great service to match. Thanks Mildreds, we will be back!!

    Attended as a group of 6 for Sunday lunch, 2 beef 3 lamb and 1 pork. All meat's cooked to perfection and the accompanying veg all cooked well and delicious we all agreed it was the best Sunday lunch out we have had. We shared two desserts which were tasty. Good choice of drinks and everyone happy with their choice. The restaurant was busy but the service was attentive, food piping hot and nothing too much trouble. Well done.

    Great experience eating at Food for Friends. Lovely staff and the food was great. I enjoyed my started and dessert the most. The pineapple tart Tatin and the sticky toffee pudding is a must try!
