Best Waterfront Restaurants in Gulf Gate Estates

Tripletail is hands down the best seafood restaurant in Sarasota. I should add that one of friends had the medallions of steak and was very pleased. The other three of us had the scallop special which had 8 scallops on delicious rice with a citrus sauce of some kind. Just delicious and we couldn’t eat it all and all three took a few home. We came to Tripletail last Christmas Eve and will come next year that’s how much we like it. We send out an extra thank you to Matt our wonderful server. We ask for him special.

Been a few years since we have had the pleasure of eating here since we live up north. It was the best all-round meal we have had at a restaurant in the last year. The escargot wellington and the lobster bisque to start the meal were packed with flavor and richness. My mother's tiger shrimp and chicken meatballs were delicious. So much good stuff packed in the meatballs with pasta made to perfection. My wife's crusted yellowtail snapper had a good crunch to the outside with flavorful savory fish inside, especially when combined with the tropical fruit jam and the crispy plantains. The paella had so many parts that worked but my favorites were the scallops and the pork belly. To finish the meal, our server recommended a delicious apple galette with a gelato scoop on top and raspberry sauce around thr edge of the plate for extra flavor. It was delightful. The phyllo pastry in both the wellington and galette were well prepared. What a great way to start our Christmas vacation in Sarasota.

The seafood choices are limited compared to our previous visits. Only sole, grouper and salmon was offered. Stuffed sole was good; crab cakes were good; but the orange glazed salmon was not! Had I known that it would not be “glazed” but had a sweet maple and orange liquid poured over it, I would have had it on the side. As it was, it was disgustingly sweet even after scraping the runny sweet liquid off.

This restaurant has been open 3 days but it runs smoothly. We sat outside on the upper deck and had a lovely view of a courtyard, surrounded by high rise condos, and a large canal that opened out onto the Sarasota Bay. I had the 8 oz filet mignon (extremely tender and flavorful). My husband had the blackened snapper and found it delicious as well. Everything we ordered was excellent (wedge salad, onion soup, whipped potatoes and chocolate peanut butter pie with Ethiopian French press coffee). My. Old Fashioned was very good as well. My husband ordered a non-alcoholic beer which they had run out of but someone ran to the store and got him one without delay. Brendan was our waiter and he couldn't have been more attentive. All the staff was top-notch. We will be back, especially when we have guests who are steak lovers!
