Tired of the loosely French inspired humdrum of restaurants popping up across the city of London? Do you like holidays? Do you like cold drinks and warm service? If you've answered yes to one or more of these then perhaps Tollington's can refresh both your pallet and your mind. The idea came from a mirror in an antiques market and a love for a more informal approach to dining, the result is a chippy in North London with old church pews bolted to the walls to be leaned on and eaten from. The focus is on fish but the menu transcends fish, mammals and vegetables, leaving no stone unturned in the never ending quest for flavour. Split between two rooms, the front the engine, the kitchen and bar shared by customers as they perch on bar stools and enjoy dinner and a show. My daughter has wanted to go to karen diner for 2 years when she was 12 I was like no not yet but for her 14 we took her and we all had a fabulous we was laughing so much I would definitely be going back again very soon!!!

A refreshingly different menu using seasonal ingredients. We enjoyed everything we ordered which was more filling than we had expected. (Had to take some home in a doggy bag). Quite expensive for what we had but I am slowly getting used to having to pay more, quite a lot more, in good restaurants these days. Service was excellent and ambience was great.

Easy to book. Attentive staff even when busy. Took my baby and good changing facilities. Interesting menu choices - tried foods I would never normally choose and all delicious. Just a bit pricey but worth it!
