We make British food with a classic or modern slant. We source our ingredients from the local fields, woodlands and waters. Everything is cooked on the premises, including the sourdough bread and the icecreams.The Good Food Guide (2023) says: "A fittingly quaint old building, complete with original features, given a suave modern twist via grey panelling and contemporary furniture. The Crown is an independently run award-winning freehouse in the heart of Hastings Old Town, open at 11am every day. Our kitchen is open 12-4, 5 till 9. The Royal is operated by James Hickson, who has a solid hospitality background having learned his trade at well-loved restaurants and gastropubs including St John, Great Queen Street, The Canton Arms and Moro. The Ferry Inn is a serendipitous country public house with welcoming staff, character rooms, candlelight, open fires, real ales, popular foods and fantastic sunsets. A 17th Century former smugglers haunt-- this is a pretty little pub in a lovely marshland setting with tables and benches on the front terrace and in the back alongside the riverbank. Inside it's very easygoing and chatty. The main bar has hop-draped painted beams, a green dado, and stools against the bar where they serve a beer called Oxney Ale specially brewed for the pub by Westerham Brewery. To the right is a cosy eating area with wheelback chairs-- ideal for a banquette with friends around a few long tables.

    We were served by Luke, he was energetic and very accommodating. He was confident about the menu and made us feel like we made good choices which we did because yummmmm! He was attentive when serving our bottle of wine also making sure we were always topped up. 10/10 service from Luke! The music was a little loud for our taste as we had to shout quite a bit, but it didn’t ruin the evening. Will defo be back! Thank you.

    Had a wonderful time at The Ivy Canterbury. We arrived early but were seated immediately. The restaurant was busy but not too noisy and the decor and ambience was excellent. Our waitress Millie, was very friendly and quick to attend to our needs. Food and drinks were bought to us in a timely manner and the food was excellent (the Ivy Snowman quite something although I'd recommend to share). Despite the place being busy and a clear demand for tables, at no point did we feel rushed and after we finished our meal and settled the bill, we moved to the bar to have a few more drinks at our leisure where once again the mixologists were chatty and friendly and able to make a multitude of cocktails of our choosing without having to check how to make them. The food and drink were on the pricier side but you get what you pay for and the bill was not unreasonable for what we received. As a Canterbury resident, I think I have a new favourite restaurant/bar.

    What a beautifully decorated restaurant, the food was delicious, but what made it better than the average was the service, 3 wonderful young ladies I didn’t their names, but they were absolutely charming
