Best Historic Restaurants in East Boston

The food was really good. We had fresh oysters, clam chowder, sea scallops, fried clams, and Boston creme pie. The server even brought us a serving of cornbread while we were waiting for the food to arrive. Outstanding all around. The booth was a little tight, but hey, its the oldest restaurant in the US, so maybe folks were smaller back then. :-)

This is my 4th time to Mare and it never disappoints. I have been there for my anniversary, night out with my wife, and business and it is a perfect location for any occasion. There are so many restaurants in the NEnd and it can be hard to standout but Mare is unique from all the other N.End Italian restaurants. Seafood centric but not just, it has something for everyone. It isn't your checkered cloth, red sauce, restaurant so if that's what you want you will find a couple dozen other spots that would fit the bill down the street. But if you are looking for some of the best seafood fused with Italian cuisine, great drinks, a broad wine list across multiple price points, cool vibes, and intimate dining experience with terrific staff then this is your place. I highly recommend

Excellent food and service. We went on a gluten free Monday due to my wife’s celiac disease. Gluten free or not, the food was fantastic.

Great experience!! Fabio was amazing and helpful and sweet Our waiter was great too, made sure we had a good time and gave us free dessert for our friends birthday

Staff was welcoming and attentive. Food was hot and tasty. We were given bread which was good and service was fast enough, and good portions for the dinner!
