In 1688, Joseph Haviland built a tidewater gristmill that provided the locally-grown grains to a nearby bakery that supplied farmers and tradesmen with bread. It was the first public oven in New York State. Haviland’s Old Grist Mill and the public bakery were community gathering places for two centuries. First time dining here and it was a wonderful experience. The service here is better than anywhere else I’ve ever been. We ordered the burrata, prosciutto and fig appetizer and the eggplant rollatini appetizer, both were lovely, really enjoyed the red sauce on the eggplant parm. I ordered the rigatoni with vodka sauce as my entree and my husband ordered the chicken and shrimp Gennaro special, everything was so well made and tasted amazing! We didn’t have room for dessert but the menu looked amazing, I can’t believe there were so many options for desserts!
