Before the James Beard Award and the Gourmet Magazine review, Lotus of Siam was a small little hole in the wall located in Commercial Center in Las Vegas. November 1999 was the month Chef Saipin and her husband Bill took over Lotus of Siam. Since then, Thai food became an adventure for those willing to step out of their comfort zones for Asian Cuisine. Chef Saipin’s distinct cooking has been passed down from generation to generation, from both her grandmothers and her husband’s grandmothers. Her northern style cooking has opened America into the “Northern” world of Thailand, away from the Bangkok style of sweet and tang. Amazing! My second trip there this year. It's some of the best Thai food I have ever had. I had a daily special, lamb chops, with roasted vegetables and peppercorn sauce that was delicious. I could eat a full bowl of the veggies! I also had the upside down pineapple cake for dessert that, despite the rock hard ice cream initially (it softens as it melts) that was a great gooey salty sweet combination. The peanuts were perfect as both salt and crunch. Atmosphere is lovely. It can be loud, is on the pricey side, but quite worth it for Thai.

This is an exceptional restaurant. Please do not let the outdated plaza which houses the restaurant fool you. This is an oasis where the food and service are exceptional. We have been coming here every Vegas trip.
