I went with my girlfriends to celebrate my birthday. The food and atmosphere was so quaint and refreshing as well as relaxing. And infinitely much better than a french restaurant in town that way is always overrated and the food isn’t memorable. This place is the opposite. Real french cuisine in a lovely atmosphere. C’est parfait!

My name is Dr. Stephen Glasser and did my medical training in Washington, DC in the 1970's and have frequented La Chaumiere since it opened 48 years. There is nothing comparable to La Chaumiere in Baltimore where I live or in DC. It is even better since new ownership several years ago. Gil is great, the food is outstanding and authentic, and the devoted staff is the best. A true, elegant French Bistro. Every time I come to DC, we come to La Chaumiere for a true dining French experience. I WILL BE BACK1 Dr. Glasser

La Chaumiere is, as always, excellent. The food is superb and to get the torchon au foie gras is fabulous. The service is the sort of discreet but attentive service that makes for perfect dining. The ambience is lovely, perfect old world French. And tonight we had the great honor of having one of Washington's premiere politicians and courageous human beings at the table next to us! What a thrill!

From the moment we walked in - it was wonderful. We were set near the beautiful central fireplace on the main floor. We ordered cocktails that were expertly made. Then were given time to enjoy and relaxed. We ordered our appetizers and oh my! They were amazing. The raw oysters were delicious and the crab, spinach flan with lobster sauce was exceptional. Our main courses didn’t disappoint lamb chop and Cinderella seafood bouquet were both beautifully displayed and the flavors were distinct and delectable. The dessert was the perfect end to the perfect dinner . Chocolate soufflé …wow.

Love this old world French restaurant. felt like I was in Paris. Fabulous staff. The trout almondine the best I have had. A bread pudding With ice cream and white chocolate sauce was worth every calorie. Not a drop left on my plate. Lovely atmosphere with a nice fireplace. Fair prices. No surprise it has been in dc so many years
