Founded in 1996 the ideas for the Marblehead Chowder House were actually hatched a few years before. Sitting at "The Barnacle," overlooking Marblehead Harbor one raw winter day, while the spume from the rough saltwater painted the windows and the Sam Adams Lager flowed freely, a concept was born. Casual, coastal and cozy - fresh seafood, fin fish, shellfish and hearty chowders in a warm, relaxing atmosphere that says "seaside" - a place that had tradition, patriotism, and a New England heritage about it. Fresh ingredients, house-made soups and chowders, comfort food with a twist freshly prepared to order were all musts! Features unique to New England were the foundation – Ipswich Belly Clams (aka steamers, softshells, pissers), fresh Lobster Roll, a Raw Bar with half-shell oysters and clams and, of course, live Lobsters arriving regularly. The stunning restaurant, which is the first of its kind in South Jersey, will transport guests to the Greek Islands with an atmosphere reminiscent of an inviting Mediterranean home, and a menu of authentic specialties, simply prepared, that represent the best of Greek cuisine. The restaurant specializes in whole grilled fish, which are flown in from the Greek islands, the shores of Morocco, Tunisia and Portugal, and procured from independent North American fishermen.     We haven't gone out on Valentine's Day​ in many years. We had a 5:30 pm reservation and when we pulled up, the parking lot was pretty crowded. We got sat promptly and our server came over right away. Even though it was crowded, we didn't feel neglected or rushed. We started with Caesar salad which was delicious. I ordered stuffed shrimp and hubby got the mix grill. Both were tasty and made well. We skipped dessert as I had made chocolate dipped strawberries. So we had a lovely meal there.

    Excellent dining experience! Our warm greeting at the check in desk set the tone. Our server was attentive, warm, knowledgeable and very provided us with great service. The menu and specials were well thought out, offered variety as well as special requests. Great selection of appetizers! The quality and presentation of our entrees were one of the reasons why we will be back soon!
