Believed to date back to the 17th century the Horse & Groom was originally used to house local farmer workers, with the increase in horse drawn traffic using the old Hastings Road the property was utilised to offer weary travellers a place to rest and stable their horse ready for their onward journey. It then, and has to this date, become known as the Horse and Groom . We enjoyed a very nice roast dinner this afternoon, in fact my wife and I agreed it was the best we had had as we like to go for a roast at least one Sunday in the month. Unfortunately we didn’t do it justice as we had a prawn cocktail starter which was also very nice but filling. I’m sure we will return in the not too distant future.

We do Enjoy visiting for lunch to meet the family. But Sunday roast was not hot , warm only . Did tell the girl server and she went and got hot gravy . That did not help. Disappointed to say the least .
