The Lexington is more than a restaurant, it’s an institution. Located on the corner of Lexington Parkway and Grand Avenue, this St. Paul community was the most fashionable at the turn of the 19th century. The St. Paul elite lived just blocks away and the first electric trolley brought visitors up and down Grand Avenue. The Lexington opened in 1935, after the end of prohibition, and was a popular neighborhood bar to gather and socialize. Met a business colleague there for lunch and was impressed. Lots of light made the space feel open and airy. Menu was diverse. I chose the meatloaf which was a daily lunch feature and my friend had the Reuben which he said was excellent and looked amazing. The meatloaf was very good and a large portion. I would come back for happy hour to see who the restaurant draws in the evening.

The service, ambiance and food were all outstanding. The extra attention to our friend whose birthday we were celebrating made the evening and our meal extra special. The decor--especially the bathroom--were classy! Thank you for all your thoughtful attention and very fine meal!!

Everything was great, the waiter was too. The cook was a bit messy, food was flying everywhere. I've been to multiple Teppian-style restaurants and the order on which he cooked the food was not good. Normally the food would be cooked together with some placed on different sides of the grill. As the rice is being prepared the other items are slowly cooked until they are brought to the middle of the grill for completion. By the time the other food items were done at this location, the rice was a little cold.
