The Gregory at The Watermark Hotel is Baton Rouge, Louisiana's premier destination for modern food & wine. Located off the lobby of the hotel, in the former Bank of Louisiana, our restaurant is centered between an open kitchen and a full bar surrounded by murals painted by the artist of who the restaurant is named, Angela Gregory. Chefs Patrick Trahan, Brock Nichols, and Jonathan White design menus that utilize fresh and local produce and available organic proteins that offer twists on Southern classics in a modern farm-to-table menu. As a Louisiana native, Patrick influences Southern cooking styles by employing our wood-stone oven, Spanish Josper oven, and cast-iron grill to elevate flavors and create one-of-a-kind dishes in the downtown Baton Rouge area.

I and a friend dined at a 4 top table in the upstairs patio dinning area. While completely covered, the space is open around two sides to the surrounding neighborhood. The evening breeze was luscious, making a simple meal get together seem like an adventure. We arrived at 6:30 and the space was sparsely occupied. Our server was attentive, but not intrusive. The meu offerings would be described as high end Mexican fare. Appetizers showed up, as hoped, before we ordered our main meal, so as to have plenty of time to snack and visit. My non-alcohol beer took a little too long to arrive. The appetizers were delivered hot and the servings were large - to-go boxes were obviously going to be needed. I ordered the Blue Crab Enchiladas, which were better than I could have hoped, and were so plentiful that they will be wonderful again tonight while I watch an LSU baseball game (GEAUX Tigers!) My friend ordered the beef tacos with the soft flour tortillas. They were four in number, huge in size, and well stuffed. Both meals came with sides of refried beans and rice, and the table was provided with more than adequate supplies of salsa and queso. I look forward to a return trip, and the upstairs patio will again be my choice!
