Nestled on the waterfront in Irvington, New York, Red Hat on the River is an American modern bistro serving satisfied diners since 2003. There's hardly a seat in the house that does not offer a spectacular view of the Hudson river. Banquettes and a pewter bar accent the space while the walls of this 100-year old renovated factory building are adorned with WPA-era art evoking a feeling of a turn of the century Parisian bistro. Evolving from a humble bistro on main street to a bustling restaurant on the river with a rooftop bar, Red Hat's commitment to providing the very best experience for their guests has always remained the same. Try the classic menu standards of steak frites, moules frites, country terrine, and the Red Hat burger. Seasonal salads, sandwiches, and seafood entrees round out the menu. The bar offerings of creative craft cocktails, local draft beer, and old world style wines complete the experience. Private events range from corporate dinners to weddings.

From its humble beginnings in the quaint Hudson River town of Piermont, New York, Olar was known for serving up rustic Neapolitan pies, classic Spanish tapas, and hand crafted pastas that drew in both locals and foodies from all parts of New Jersey, upstate New York, and New York City and kept them coming back for over a decade. Now in its new location in Northvale, New Jersey, the restaurant, now known as Olar Noso - which means "our home" in Galego, the language spoken in Galicia where the Dominguez family is from - is an evolution in not only name alone. They have managed to scale the restaurant concept generously while replicating the quality and preserving the reputation the former Olar had garnered over the years. Evolving into Olar Noso meant giving Olar's loyal customers everything they loved, while also enhancing their experience with more seating, more elbow room, a full bar, a private event space, and, finally, ample parking.

Nicely lit and decorated spaces. Long bar with comfortable stools upon entering. Seems they have a good Happy Hour M-F. Will have to check it out Everyone was dressed nicely, as the ambiance calls for. Drinks well made and on par pricewise. Escorted by personable hosts to table in dining room. Tables were spaced well. Ambiance of a high end steak house. Servers were attentive, efficient and polite. Manager Saul was involved and engaging. Noise level was quite comfortable, even with a number large parties scattered throughout the room. Small cheese puff biscuits provided on table is quite good. Centrally located salad and sides bar clean, fresh and on temperature. Nice variety as well. French fries and mashed potatoes are also available/provided. The mashed was good, but the fries, while hot and crisp, were coated. Not my preference, but not unpleasant. The tableside meat skewer service was very frequent and plentiful. The meats were hot and perfectly prepared. This night there was beef and lamb picanhas, bacon wrapped chicken, brazilian sausage, plain and spicy sirloin, filet mignon and flank steak. I had hoped for lamb chops and maybe another pork offering (other than sausage) but I was not disappointed in the least with the night's selections. The house Malbec was reasonably priced and very good. Dessert selections were not extensive, but nicely varied. Pecan pie, a chocolate mousse cake and key lime pie were some of the choices. The ice cream that accompanied the pecan pie was not too flavorful and not as sweet and creamy as one would expect. But the pie was spot on. The espresso was very good. Good coffee is a must for a venue like this. Joining their email mailing list gets you a certificate for $20 off your next meal and a birthday special offering as well. Interesting item was reading about their butcher shop on their website. While not on the premises (I dont think), you can order their signature meats for delivery or pick up at the location.

My husband and I had a wonderful Valentine's Day lunch at this restaurant. It was our first time here. It's so beautiful- like being in a restaurant in a Greek resort town. Everything was great - food, service and cocktail list. Also a nice selection of Greek wines. Can't wait to go back in nicer weather and experience the outdoor patio.

This was the first time having pistachio flavored pasta (rigatoni in my case) and I was awesome. It was cooked with fennel and was absolutely delicious. My wife had the duck liver cannolli and she loved it as well. The service was excellent and attentive. Could not have had a better dining experience close to home!
