The rustic, market-driven menu features handmade pasta, pizzas, antipasti, housemade salumi, meat, and fish plus dishes from the Jewish-Roman heritage known as “Cucina Ebraica.” The beverage program focuses heavily on both Italian and Californian wines with a cocktail program that utilizes a variety of spirits, amaros, and seasonal ingredients. Food is consistently amazing. It’s a classic for a reason. It’s loud in there so think about seating as yelling across the table is challenging. The beginning of the meal felt rushed this time but it did not detract from the experience, we just needed to slow ourselves down vs giving in to how quickly the service was moving us.

We celebrated our anniversary at the restaurant. The co-owner was very kind and moved us from the bar seating to a table. The food was excellent; we shared a warm goat salad and a plate of charcuterie to start followed by the coq au vin and a hanger steak with fries. The portions were generous Thank you for thoughtful and attentive service. Very grateful for the complimentary dessert.

The friendliest restaurant in town! Really took care of us. We were seated in the parklet and were totally comfortable and well cared for. Delicious food from start to finish! Shout out to the starters. They make their own butter. And save room for dessert. We didn't but had it anyways and wouldn't change a thing.

Fable is one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants in the Castro, my go-to. I love their patio dining, and the food is consistently good. This visit did not disappoint. The service and our server were fabulous. Our group ordered the pork chop, which was the hit of the evening. It was juicy, full of flavor, and served with roasted Brussels sprouts and sweet potato mash—a great combination. Someone ordered the cheeseburger, and it was good, consistent with prior visits. The only item we wouldn't order again was the cioppino. The person who ordered it said the soup lacked depth and complexity, and there was no crab in the dish. Overall, it was bland, even after they added the house-made habanero sauce.
